Quite a succesful haul of prezzies this year. Most of it fitted into these categories:

2 network cards, a modem and a DVD-ROM drive (slightly used found in skip).
A silly card game based on pizza.
Chocolate.
A Go board.
Assorted books.
A new mouse

Installing the hardware was tedious. Why does MS always want me to reboot the OS!? Why does a mouse need to tinker with something so low level!? It's quite a nice one though. Cordless, optical, 5 buttons. Had a bit of trouble working out what the middle button should be mapped to (there's no "middle button". Only "Autoscroll"). The network card was a real pain in Windows. I needed to do some stupid tinkering weith the registry for some reason, to give administator access privilidges. DVD-ROM works as a DVD rom drive. Doesn't seem to work as a CD Writer though. Never mind - I already have a one of them.

As for books - I am now learning how to be idle. A fascinating read I recommend to everyone.

Sat on my butt eating food all over christmas. Oh, and also saw a couple of films. I thought I'd make my parents watch a film. A friend had lent them Sister Act, but I felt Ocean's Eleven would appeal a bit more. I was right. They enjoyed it.

My Mum thought I needed to see The Dome cinema in Worthing. It's a very nice 30's cinema. Decorated appropriately for the era. All very nice. The only film that was on was National Treasure. A film that appeals to me for all the wrong reasons. Action films starring Nick Cage always seem to have a car chase, and it always seems tacked on (even the one in Gone in 60 seconds). But National Treasure is one of those consipracy films where the spin the conspiracy-o-matic. The spin it and it comes up with "Founding fathers, egyptian treasure, Freemasons". Hey presto - You have a plot.
