Oh, the Horror!

Frightfest is on this August bank holiday weekend. Odeon Leicester Square.

Several people who read this seemed vaguely interested, and last year they showed a few films long before they were out on general release (including Oldboy and the Machinist). Worth going to if you like that sort of thing.

Must get round to buying tickets. Except I refuse to use the Odone's web site. Or their telephone booking system. Both of them totally stink bigtime. Their internet booking system only works with IE - and iften doesn;t work even then.

Global Frequency

Warner Brothers made a pilot of a series based on a comic strip. They decided, for reasons of their own, not to show it. It leaked.

And it's pretty hokey. Sorta fun though.

The writers do seem to have raided the Big Book of cliches. Global conspiracy solves all the big-big issues that individual government organisations can'tt deal with. They inadvertantly recruit a tough guy cop/marine type who finds himself partnered with cute blonde scientist, and the obligatory acerbic relationship develops between them immediately.

We also get one storming of a government building by the head of the organisation, big climax at the end... Fixed in the nick of time. Seemed a bit by the numbers. I like lowbrow action, but I everyone would get bored with it fairly quickly if it was made into a series.
