Top 5's

Okay.  Thanks, to my cous [livejournal.com profile] moonwolf1988  for these

Top five books you want to write some day.

1. Top one is finish, or even get a bit further with my childrens' fantasy about a wizard.  It' totally self indulgent.  The main character's name is even my middle name.  I really enjoy writing for the character though.  He's always happy.  This means I can throw whatever I want at him and it never gets him down.

2. Something for Nano 2010.  I managed this the last couple of years.  This time I need to actually raise the bar a little.  I have no idea what it will be about even.

3. The Hugo Award winner.  No idea what this would be either.  I just want one of those Hugos to stick on my mantelpiece, next to my lightsaber.  Having read a number of Hugo nominees I'm not quite sure what the literature fans actually like.

4. A steampunk novel. I love the steampunk feel.  But the story ideas that appeal never want to happen in a steampunk setting.  I feel the genre has never been properly explored.  Clockwork prosthetics and airships alone aren't enough to justify it.  You need a story that could only possibly happen in a neo-Victorian setting.

5. A high-tech conspiracy thriller that actually makes sense.

When I write I do so mainly for my own amusement.  I have absolutely no desire to write Literature with a capital 'L'.  Keep em simple.

Top five couples in books, tv series, and films.

Princess Bride: Miracle Max and Valerie.  Forget Westley and Buttercup.  These two have a proper healthy relationship.  Non of that schmaltz stuff.  They've been finoishing each others' sentences for years.

Futurama: Fry and Leela.  Fry is a bit of a slob, and a complete idiot most of the time and Leela is kinda out of his league.  Really though he's kind of sweet.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer:  Tara and Willow.  Yes, I am going to link to Once More With Feeling!  Part of this is that I've always had a crush on Alyson Hannigan, and I absolutely love Amber Benson for reasons I will go into at length if pushed, but mainly because she's absolutely lovely to the fans.  Also I like that it never really felt like a gratuitous lesbian relationship.  Mainly it's because they're such a cute couple.

Julian Comstock: A story of 22nd Century America: Adam Hazzard and Calyxa Blake.    Adam - the narrator - is hopelessly naive.  Calyxa is a Spitfire.  It's easy to see why Adam falls for Calyxa.  Why she agrees to marry him is a little less obvious.  Calyxa explains at the end.  In French (untranslated).  Adam doesn't speak French so assumes it's something sardonic.  It really isn't.

Holmes and Watson. (pic hijacked from [livejournal.com profile] spacefall )  What do you mean it's not canon!

Yeah.  I'm a hopeless romantic
