luckykaaWhat to wear, what to wear. I like doing the con costume thing. Can't think of anything for Eastercon. Not really sure what people go for. Next convention after that is Discworld. We've got a while until that, but it seems like a good time to think about costume.
My criteria for costumes tend to be based on time available, money available, originality, and what I actually already have in my wardrobe. And what may woo the ladies, of course, but I don't think I'll have a lot of luck there... So, I have lots of time, and can plenty of spare cash. My wardrobe contains quite a lot from various fancy dress parties over the years, but I don't think lightsabres or rocket packs are going to quite be appropriate, and neither is the psi-cop costume. Cloaks, contact lenses (wolf, Green, Purple, but I'm tempted to get some more), fangs, leather gloves, and a labcoat are all available. Would really like to reuse those gloves.
Not going to do Librarian or Death. They both fail on the originality test.
I could easily be a vampire - and Discworld has plenty of them. Otto is pretty funky. I keep doing the vampire thing though. Could also be Igor. All seems a little tooo obvious though. An elf from Lords and Ladies would be cool, but I don't think people would get it. An original parody of a fantasy character would be cool, and I'm sure perfectly appropriate. My mind's a blank here.
What could come in handy is Wikipedia covering geeky things like Discworld character lists in way too much detail.
