Prezzies

Some unusual stuff. One new game (Saga). Copy of Watchmen. 8 pints of cider from Peate - an old friend who clearly knows me way too well.
Some fine Ginger-Honey tea from Korea (Not a birthday gift but something my brother brought back). A kite. Boggle. Choclate. Chocolates. A bonsai tree. Catch-22. Several DVDs (Incredibles and Indiana Jones). A denim jacket to replace the old one I had. I liked the old jacket but it was wearing a little thin after 10 years. A few rips and tears makes it slightly punky, which is pretty cool. This one had gone past that stage.

Sadly the bonzai tree had to be left behind because I couldn't think of a way to keep it safe for all the time I was in a hotel, then off to Cardiff, then back home. I don't think bonsais thrive from being left in cars. I did consider taking the bonsai with me to the interview and checking with it before answering any question. I think it would have made an impression.

Parties

I had 2 parties. There was the dinner party with my parents and Peate. This involved much alcohol from a carefully chosen wine list.

I'm a foodie. Most people who know me probably realise this. My dad cooked a modest 7 course meal. It was fantastic. Can't decide whether the best bit was the organic scottish beef, or the home made pavlova. It was all good. It was nice seeing my parents again, and hadn't seen Peate for a while. And I've been wanting him to visit for drinking lots, and experiencing my dad's home cooked meals for a while now. It's always been a little difficult in the past what with him having to drive and the requirement to drink lots of wine.

Then I went to Bristol, to meet friends at Horts. Arrived at the pub a little early and so managed to catch the end of a friends stag do. So I got to congratulate him and then chat to [livejournal.com profile] vanir. Vanir served as a sueful packhorse for the evening so I am most grateful for that:)

It's a shame [livejournal.com profile] spacefall and [livejournal.com profile] the_smut_fairy couldn't make it. I like to introduce friends to other friends at parties. Sadly, Spacefall was out fighting crime with [livejournal.com profile] steve_rogerson. the_smut_fairy was being mothered but I caught up with her later. People did meet other people. Even I met other people. Nobody tried to kill anyone. Therefore party was a success. We kept finding ourselves moving to different tables for one reason or another which was not intentional but it allowed much mingling so was good.

Pics here

It being a Saturday at the end of summer, there were lots of people around. Many of them being weird and having Stag nights or Hen nights. Poor souls. A lot of these pub crawls seem unpleasant. Is this society's deterrent to prevent people from getting married?

Cider

Managed to catch up with various people on Sunday evening, and shared some of my birthday cider. It's good to share. This was Little Red Rooster. Very nice medium cider with a tiny hint of fizziness, (stored in the traditional 4 pint milk carton). From East Sussex. [livejournal.com profile] invisigoth51 asked if this meant I'd been to Sussex recently. The answer was of course, yes, but since I didn't buy it, this was just a conicidence. It was also just a coincidence that it was bought in East Sussex. Middle Farm Shop in Firle has a huge collection of cider and perry from most of the country. A must visit place for all fans of amusing apple drinks. Stayed up chatting to [livejournal.com profile] tyrshundr till far too late.
