Work summer events can be FUN!  we went to "Country Wide special events" and did hovercraft racing and buggy racing and clay pigeon shoooting and airgun shooting and Power turn racing and archery and a funny team building event  type thingy.  Then had a barbecue then was dragged off home halfway thrugh a pub quiz.

Hovercraft are interesting beasts to drive,  They have handlebars.   These shift a rudder but do absolutely bugger all for control.  All the steering is from leaning.

The buggies were fun.  Spun it twice.  It's important to know the limits of these things.

Clay pigeon shooting.  The guy in charge of our team had some nice guns though.  I got to shoot a double barrel jobby and a pump action.  11 hits out of 13 shots.   Not too bad considering I've never done this before.

Airgun shooting.  4 ducks out of 4.  I can't believe I missed the reset button though.  I had it dead centre of my sights, and my hand was steady as a rock.

Power turn buggies are bizarre and incedible fun.  They take 2 drivers.  One controls the left wheel, the other controls the right.  Needs a lot of communication to control.  And the wheelie ever so well.  We finished early so we had another go without worrying about hitting flags (these have time penalties).  I'm sure we did much better time just whizzing round without really caring.

Archery - Apparently there was one Robin Hood (Hitting an arrow that's already in ther target)

Team building - Get a "virus" out of a pipe and into a bin with the tools provided.  We rushed through it and went to the bar.

Barbecue - Proper cuts of meat, and actual meaty sausages and burgers.  I ate more than I could possibly manage.  Then I had a slice of cake.  Still kinda hungry.

They also had silly sumo suits and those things you run along with bungies tied to you that pull you back.

And then there was the pub quiz.  The team was me, an easy going sci-fi/rock fan I get on with and a handful of other people.  The two of us got a most of the answers.  I was quite surpised that only the two of us knew where The House of The Rising Sun was in that song.  Sadly we were then dragged away because the bus was leaving.  Grrrr!  We were doing so well.  Except for "What is the first line of Bridge over Troubled Waters"?

But, it was all a laugh.  I'll have to see how well the team did without me.
