Or how to get a reputation as a fierce negotiator.
nayela insisted that the previous Nyctophobia was an exceptions where things really didn't work as well as normal so I gave it another go. She was right. it was great!
The prologue (actually the plot)
So, the story was that we had a play. "A series of cautionary tales". A delightfully bad play with some nice in character heckling from Drunken Pavlov the Tanalian. The audience were encouraged to wear masks. What a surprise, all the actors died and those wearing masks heard stuff in the woods. Seems the masks stuck us in the story realm. There were fairies. They had glamours. They kept making people dance and sing (if they were happy) or terrified of things. We had a quest to go to the four corners of the world to find treasure. The idea was we had to change the endings of the stories which involved a quest.
And there was lots of fighting.
Eduardo
So anyway, I was playing Eduardo Moratelli again.
Eddie is a friendly chap. A little quiet (I'll have to work on that), fond of a drink or ten, and rich (or at least his dad is).
I discovered a few things about Eddie.
He's quite tolerant of teasing, having grown up with 6 siblings. It takes a lot to rile him. Things that will rile him include
As a result of Parental pressure to get out and make something out of himself, he's ended up as the largest shareholder, and because father seems to get on the the head of the caravan, has found himself responsible for negotiations.
Eddie is really very persuasive. After some haggling, he knocked the man down from 20 sovereigns to zero sovereigns (plus a big favour).
We also had a ruin in with some tax collectors. With hindsight I should have enlisted the good natured brute with a big hammer as my tax advisor.
His aim is to be the caravan's Don Corleone. Not going too well. The first person to want a favour from him died shortly afterwards.
Plot developments
We have acquired a doctor. Useful since we also lost a healer. Eddie is easy to persuade. Especially if you happen to be Elena (
nayela's character). He seems to have been roped into being an apprentice Healer. This will take a while to be remotely useful but does give some in-character justification to go off with fights rather than hide.
We may have pissed off the owner of the island we were on.
The City state of Jahan appears to be preparing for war. This makes fanatically neutral Roma a little unpopular.
