An amusing waste of time with scanners
Aug. 13th, 2009 08:41 pmMy scanner died a while ago.
I got a replacement from freecycle. Plugged it in. Found drivers after an epic search. Started it up.
Light was dead. Might have had something to with the previous owner using an 18V power supply rather than 12V.

Ah - thinks I. This Tiny Scanner is a rebadged Primax scanner (epic driver searches do teach you something). Perhaps they're part compatible. I removed the light from old scanner, plugged it into new scanner. Still didn't work. Must be something to do with one of the other circuitboards. Swapped PC interface boards over. Light still not working. Old scanner still not working. Seems that the fault is in the same board with both scanners. Damn!
So that was a waste of time. An amusing waste but a waste nonetheless.
