Vampire Ball Convention day 1

I couldn't find my camera. Assumed it was in Cheltenham. It wasn't. I did bring my spare old camera. Also brought the recharger. Sadly the recharger has 3 parts to it (power adapter, recharger and battery adapter - it's a universal camera battery charger) and forgot the last bit. Doh! Various other bits and pieces completely forgotten as well. Nothing that justifies the 2 hr 30 min round trip.
I did fortunately remember my computer. Also my 3G dongle which works out cheaper than paying hotel prices for internet (honestly - £9.99 a day? for 20 quid I can get a three.co.uk dongle with 1GB allowance. And even that doesn't strike me as particularly cheap).
Not much happens on a Friday. There's waiting for all the guests to be ready... Then there's the opening ceremony. Which hardly seems worth the wait. Nobody knows when the opening ceremony will happen, and it lasts about 15 minutes.
Much more fun is the party. Themed parties - Friday was Sunnydale High theme. I dressed as Spike. White snazz is better than hair spray for the hair. Wish I could have got something a bit blonder. Many cheerleaders. I put in my fangs. There's hardly anyone here I know! That's scary. Wish I'd remembered to print off some business cards. Met some sweet Swedes who all wanted to have a photo taken with me biting them. One was dressed as vamp willow. Hotel has notices up warning us not to bring our own alcohol. Tip for hotels holding conventions - we're not on business expenses. Adjust your prices down and we'll buy more.
Will need to work out what to do about food. When you're effectively pescatarian options are limited. Pub nearby will probably do salmon or trout or something veggie but I want something quick this evening.![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)

Was up in plenty of time for breakfast. Con survival tip - if you have an all you can eat breakfast, take it literally. Get enough calories to last until dinner.
