Gaming, Camping and Sniping

So, another week of not getting contracts, another IDP camp.
It was a new site. Actually pretty good. Miles away from anywhere, and we had a low level flyover by a fighter just to reinforce the warzone feel. Lots of derelict buildings to dump trainee workers in, and we had a nice little nook that looked a lot more like a campsite than the old one does. Didn't have the Sahara (big tent) though, and even if we did have we'd have had nowhere to put it so that was a bit of a shame.
Downside is that it's not got a suitable training centre on site.
So, we were a little short staffed this time. Our IDP camp had one woman, and a total population of 4 people to represent a camp of 6000 people. Presumably they had other things to do. Oh, and the whole thing was a logistical nightmare. We didn't have blood! It was meant to be given to us but apparently there was a miscommunication. We did finally get some handed to me while the others checked out the arrivals. Cue camp leader disappearing into the bushes to set up blood bags and then palm it to our victim as subtly as possible.
As usual it was mostly idly chatting about stuff. Established that 3 out of 4 of us went to the same university. Have also learned that the Sci-Fi soc library is still around, but is apparently cursed.
Broke from the script a little. Normally we have one inured and one shot dead decided we'd only have the death if they were dithering too much. Otherwise we're down another IDP and we were already short staffed. It's helpful to have several of us along to persuade them to take our casualty with them.
For some reason I completely failed to get a full night's sleep and while I remained largely functional for most of the day I was getting pretty tired by the time we got back to Oxford. Am extremely grateful to
lordofthewheel for letting me crash over there last night.
Next one is May 5th. If anyone can get to Wellingborough* and wants to play the part of an IDP potentially get covered in fake blood, and almost-but-not-quite-traumatise aid workers. If you're lucky you can get shot twice in the same sim!
*You'll get 20 quid cash plus travel costs up to £20 per person, plus free lunch and the chance to geek in a field with lovely people.
