So it's Guy Fawkes night. And everyone knows the story.
One of the things I find bizarre is the Monteagle Letter. In it, one of the conspirators warned Lord Monteagle not to attend parliament. It basically said "Don't go to Parliament today. Could be dangerous". Of course many people argue that conspirator Francis Tresham didn't write the letter. Instead Robert Cecil - the man who uncovered the plot - did so in order to protect a source.
Still, assuming you are ever in this position, I would advise you to go for something along the lines of "I have important news for the safety on the nation. Meet me in the Dog and Duck at midnight". Not only does it not tip anyone off, it also allows for a lot more plausible deniability.
It pays to be genre savvy.
