Weekend part 1 - party time.
Aug. 13th, 2018 02:53 pmWell, that was a long weekend. Started of with my mum's birthday bash. Went on to Nineworlds.
Decided we'd get the train because part of the trip involved central London and parking there is hideously expensive. So, we zipped from Manchester to London in 2 hours and a few minutes, through the underground in about 10 minutes, and then it was just the short trip to Sussex, where my parents live. Expected to get there at 11ish, get a lift back and go straight to bed.
The train stopped for 2 bloody hours! Apparently the train in front of the train in front of the train in front of the train in front of the train in front of the train in front of the train in front of us broke down in a tunnel. Southern were very clear that this was a Thameslink service that had broken down. We eventually got to the station at 1:30 in the morning. Naturally, there were no taxis. Tried calling for one but there was a 15 minute wait which is roughly how long it would take to walk. We finally got back and fortunately there was a nice comfy bed to flump on.
The late arrival did mess up plans a bit.
flickums is not good at early mornings after not getting sleep. I can function reasonably well, but tend to run out of energy very early. But we rearranged transport plans and got picked up by brother.
Party was enjoyable. We had tea and cake at Sussex Prairie Gardens, and were given a talk about what the gardens were about. We had nice weather and I chatted to various people. Most of them were grown ups but I tend to get on well with my mum's friends.
Really wish we'd had more sleep.
