My mum has reached another year of life. We had to celebrate.
Naturally this meant an epic feast! All family celebrations require an epic feast. It's what they do. Usual hive of activity, so Flickums decided to drag me out to go shopping and to escape the chaos.
Eventually the rest of the - brother and assorted niece and nephews - arrived, all niblings are now substantially larger than last time I saw them. Oldest looks like an anime protagonist. Youngest is now talking and had a lot of fun playing with the bins. Middlest is full of energy. Really nice seeing everyone but completely exhausting.
They went away. Flickums and I decided to head out and go for a drive. Went to Shoreham fort, which I think was a little less than Flickums was expecting. It's true. It's not a massive tourist attraction. An old Napoleonic war era defensive fort that has fallen into disrepair. I like to visit though. Also had fun watching the surfers in the harbour. They didn't seem to be having a lot of luck catching those waves. Wonder if it's always like that.
On the final day we went to Brighton... First I tried fixing my dad's computer. I'll get onto that in another post.
Having failed to do that we set off for Brighton. Went to the North Laines. Visited Kensingtons - now Kenny's Rock and Soul cafe, and had the world's biggest Brunch - Fluffy pancakes, scrambled egg and bacon. Went to Snooper's Paradise and browsed. Visited Montezumas Chocolate shop and was disappointed that there's only one type of hot chocolate these days. Walked down to the sea and saw the sea. Went to the penny arcade and wasted our pennies. There was a rather silly haunted graveyard. Then onto the pier. Attempted to win a prize on the tin can alley. Two good throws and one went wild because I'm rubbish at this.
Felt time was getting away from us so returned to the car. Flickums thought I was being a bit of a grump not wanting to go on any rides, but were in a bit of a rush. Did pick up a nicknack from a shop on the pier with a very grumpy shopkeeper though.
Returned to parents'. Failed again to fix dad's PC. Headed home.
I really miss Brighton. Want to visit again. Want to go back and do some of the touristy crap that we can do there.
