Martian Immersion
Nov. 10th, 2021 10:45 amSaturday afternoon, and we went for the thing we came down to London for in the first place. The War of the Worlds Immersive Experience.
It all starts in the bar. All very steampunk in decor. We are assigned coloured wristbands, and after some time, coloured smoke comes out to let us know it's our turn.
So, we enter, and are given an introduction by an actor and a projection of the journalist "George Herbert" who tells us that the Earth was invaded 6 years ago. This seems to have confused one of the visitors a little since the next section is set before the invasion.
So, we have various sections, some involving actors, others involving VR. Some tactile stuff in a darkened room where aliens probe us. There was a rather impressive practical effect of Ogilvy being roasted, and a VR segment where we saw parliament getting torched. And then we ended up in a bar. Without much explanation that this was an intermission. Flickums bought me an overpriced Red Weed cocktail, and we saw part 2.
It is a very impressive show. VR bits look a little outdated but are kind of cool. Music is good. All from the Jeff Wayne musical
Finished up in the bar where I got myself a "Fog Of War". Another overpriced cocktail but very nice.
Really wondering if I should have dressed up for it.
