Got out of bed. I won't say "woke up" because phone related stress meant I was a little wired and my brain will wake me up at arounf 7:00 UK time because my brain works that way. So yeah... Was kinda tired.

Anyway, we wanted to see Ghostbusters HQ. This is near Fraklin Street station. On the red line - 1, 2 an 3. Got on a train that looked right. Looked for a station on the stops board. There it was; Franklin Avenue. Yeah... Turns out that red line branches. Line 1 goers to Franklin Street. Line 2 goes to Franklin Avenue. Ooops. Flickums was not happy with me. I blame sleep deprived Zombie brain.

So, anyway; we went back. Saw GHQ - actually a real working fire station, but the Ghostbusters sign is still up, and they have the sign in the front of the fire engine as well.

Decided to folllow that up by going to see The Statue Of Liberty. Sticking to the Ghostbusters theme here "She's French, you know".

Caught the right train this time. Got out of the station and were immediately interrogated about tickets by a scary looking woman. This was a bit confusing. They wanted to sell us tour tickets or something. My sleep addled brain vaguely remembered reading something about not buying tickets from people on the street though. Also I am very resistant to pushy sales tactics. Especially from someone with a faded City Tours jacket and ripped trousers... But there was a much more official looking place withg an actual park ranger outside and we got tickets there.

Just made it to the boat before it left. And we set off to see the statue. After a lunch of massive portions, we looked around Liberty Island. Slightly disappointing that we didn't get entry to the pedestal. We did get close to it though. And we also got to see the museum that goes into detail about how it was made.

Following this is a trip to Ellis Island. The old imigration centre back in days of Godfather flashback segments and And American Tail. I did a "Papers please" pose behind a desk, and then gave Flickums her immigration papers, but changed her name to Facility Cone.

Had a quick look at exhibits. Totally pooped by 16:00 so headed back to hotel, where I collapsed for a well needed nap. Flickums took the opportunity to go shopping, and get some milk. Ended up with a half-gallon bottle because that was the smallest size they had. Americans don't do small portions.

Wanted to go somewhere close by to eat. Fortunately, there's an Irish bar right next door to the hotel, and Irish Stew looked nice. Unfortunately it was crazy busy. Fortunately, the woman dealing with seating was doing an excellent job dealing wioth people coming and going. Unfortunately she gave the next available table to the people behind us. Fortunately they had a visitor - who offered us a table in a nice quiet area. Seemed very appealing! Turns out this was the restaurant next door. So I missed out on Irish Stew, but I did have a very nice pan seared salmon, and more importantly the place was a hell of a lot quieter than the Irish bar.

Chilled out day planned today. Try out the pool, visit the Winter Village in Bryant park, and just relax.

Welcome to the daily cockup... Today's cockup is courtesy of a limo company intermediary.

[personal profile] flickums  booked a limo christmas lights tour some time ago. Today flickums received an email saying "Your payment didn't go through so we cancelled the booking". No option to change payment method or anything. Have to rebook and the price has gone up considerably.

Yeah... no.  Calling them wasn't much use. They're just a tour consolidator. Basically there's nothing they can do.

Ah well. Have potentially book another company. Maybe. They're being very slow at responding.

Aside from that it's been a laid bck day. Went to Barnes and Noble. Had an absolutely delicious hot Apple caramel cider (Cider in america is just apple juice rather than hard cider but very tasty)

Went to Bryant park to see the winter market. Flickums bought enough socks to make the Prince Regent envious. Also bought some cookie dough, and some hot chocolate.

We'll both be needing to hit the treadmill later.
