Final day of isolation
Dec. 22nd, 2021 07:35 amSo, checking dates and rules it seems my imprisonment is almost at an end, and I am actually allowed out tomorrow.
Decided to buy a cheap crappy laptop on the first day. It just needed to be good enough for movies and retrogaming. It really was cheap. And it really was crappy. Wi-fi failed about 5 minutes after windows was set up and I can't get it back. But I can tether to phone and play retrogames so there's that.
Got into a routine after a couple of days. Wake up. Do some Duolingo German. Shower. Check internet. Watch Doctor Who...
Booking a flight change burned up a surprisingly large chunk of available time. I went with Virgin Atlantic because in the past I've had excellent customer service. But it took over 2 hours to answer the damn phone! This was after 90 minutes I'd previously spent waiting for them to answer before internet cut out.
Breakfast has been delivered to the door. First day they threw everything in, and I had a selection including cold bacon, scrambled egg, croissant, bread, pastries, cheese and ham. Decieded to request just croissant, cheese and oatmeal. They have some very taste apple and cinnamon flavour.
Food has been courtesy of Uber Eats. I tried DoorDash. They didn't want to accept a UK credit card or a UK Paypal address. I just wanted them to take my money!
I have generated a shocking amount of rubbish.
Played some "Baba Is You" and "SpaceChem". Nothing like puzzle games to burn up the time.
The time went a lot more quickly than expected. Actually got less TV watching and reading done than I expected. Part of this was chatting with people. Martin and Melica held a Zoom party. There was the weekly GURPS game. Plenty of people called on messenger to check up on me.
So that leaves one more day to use up. Tomorrow I get to see the city! And the next day I get to go home!
We'll be flying home for Christmas!
