Catboy's day out

flickums scheduled the day for me to do whatever I wanted to do since the rest of the holiday has been her itinerary. Unfortunately I'm very indecisive. The first part of the day was easy. Finally get some sleep! Then chill by the pool. But wasn't sure what else to do.
There were some foodie options but nothing seemed essential. However, I thought the lakes sounded nice, and there was also a ferry ride to Aegina. Decided I'll hijack the itinerary and do both. Aegina first.
So we got on the metro to Aegina, and it started to rain. Not a promising start. Also this is right by the port so rain was coming in sideways. Taking shelter didn't actually help that much. So we ducked into a coffee shop to decide what to do. As it turned out the rain stopped while we were having coffee, so we decided to chance it. Managed to catch the ferry just as it was about to leave, and then spent around hald an hour waiting for them to load the rest of the cars on board. Then sat on the deck as we watched Athens disappear in the distance and Aegina appear in front of us.
It's a tiny little island with a small town and a lot of touristy tat along the harbourside. A small beach, which we headed to and several outdoor restaurants where the staff were applying a lot of sales pressure when we just wanted to look at prices.
We eventually got to the beach. Rented a pair of sunbeds and parasol and ordered drinks. I changed to swim kit and jumped into the sea. And the water was really nice!
Loitered by the sea for a while longer. Ordered a mixed fruit drink. Turned out to be an everything smoothie. Very nice. So much chilling by the sea later, we decided to grab some food. I went for Calamari, which was a little disappointing. Flickums went for a pork skewer which seemed like a better choice.
Decided to head back after that. Seemed no sign of the ferry for ages but it appeared a few minutes before the scheduled departure time and left actually only a couple of minutes late. Surprisingly fast turnaround.
Rather pooped now. But I think there might be enough time for a cocktail.
