So, having accepted [personal profile] flickums ' proposal, Flick went full steam ahead into wedding planning mode. I'm doing my best to keep up.

Flick has a very solid idea of the dress she wants, and what the bridesmaids should wear. I have some solid ideas on the car and the food.

I know what I want to wear. The jacket Robert wears in the ball at the end of Enchanted. Trouble is it's a lot harder than I expected to find something similar at a quality I trust. They're either cheap bits of fancy dress costume or extremely expensive custom made outfits. I want some sort of Rococo jacket and a contrasting waistcoat.

Venue - we need somewhere for the wedding and somewhere for the reception. Although can do both at the same place.

I was a bit reluctant to go to Manchester Registry office. The issue I always have with registry offices is they're in the middle of cities and basically dump everyone out onto the street. Always seems a bit of a shame. Manchester itself seems to be stuck in a side road. Stockport on the other had seems to have some nice lawns surrounding the building, and inside is a really rather nice venue, with a magnificent staircase.  Sadly, it rules out our preferred date. They do seem to insist on a drinks reception afterwards. People are saying this is a good idea.

So next step was looking at a reception venue. So many to choose from! So far we've visited one

It was a lovely spa hotel, out in the country. And it was fun to drive up there in Arachnia! So we arrived and met the lovely Paige who showed us around.

So, choice of two rooms, each with a side room and a bar. One of them was absolutely lovely (but £500 more expensive)! Nice all-inclusive package which does sadly mean I don't get the hog roast I want.

Then we were shown an outside area, and she mentioned that some people have a string quartet there.

And now I want a string quartet!

Looked it up. There are websites listing repertoires. They will do Rains of Castamere, so Flick is happy., They'll also do a whole range of contemporary songs and movie themes.

Flick wants them to play AC/DC's Thunderstruck.

It's tempting.
