Sigh. Could do with less of this agnosticism. Must look into Daoism.

Purple... What is this lack of purple clothing? All I want it a nice long black coat with a purple lining, a purple T-shirt, and some purple socks. And they have to be the right shade of purple. Purple is the colour of royalty.

I'm sure more people had Sky when I didn't. Now I seem to be about the only one. Been watching Dead Like me. Curiously moreish programme. Shame nobody else seems to be watching it.

Work is being interesting once more. Sadly, this is interesting in the wrong way. I really wish the company would share information a little more. Last week we had a sudden and unexpected company meeting where we were told that the company was moving out of the top floor since the landlord for that one is different from the one for the other two floors, and wanted the company to agree to an incompatable long term lease. So, rather than give us any warning that this might be happeneing, they informed us on the day the lease expired that we were squeezing in.

Now there's a rumour that the company is being liquidated. This was gained from an employment agency that had picked up the rumour from a forum. No idea where the commenter on the forum got this from. Normally, I'd pay no attention to these rumours, but the company hasn't got round to dismissing it yet. This has of course led to unfounded speculation amognst the ranks. Puleeze! Why the hell can't they talk to us?

Sigh. Could do with less of this agnosticism. Must look into Taoism.

Obviously the book to read is the 'Tao Te Ching' by Lao-tse, but this is rather heavy going, so 'The Tao of Pooh and the Te of Piglet' by Benjamin Hoff is an excellent (and somewhat more digestable) introduction, and pretty much any large bookshop will carry it. Or I could lend you it next time you're over. Barefoot Doctor's 'Handbook for the Urban Warrior' puts a lot of the principles into practice and offers a more modern spin for coping with the Western world. However, I find a lot of his later books get a bit to New Agey and 'commercial' for my tastes.

Hope that provides you with a starting point at least. Actually, I remember after your rant by the duck pond about religion at A&N's wedding, it occured to me later that I should have mentioned the Tao, but then I clean forgot.

The only one of barefoot doctor's "urban warrior" books I've ever read was trying way, way too hard to be trendy for my tastes. I think it was the immediate sequel to the original Handbook.

"Tao of Pooh" is good, though. I'll join you in recommending that one.

Ok, maybe I should have phrased it as everything after his first book sucked. The man has really sold out, I was nearly sick when I saw the range of 'Barefoot Doctor's Urban Remedy' bath products in Boots - all fakey 'aromatherapy' products that don't actually contain any natural essential oils. >:p

Ta. It was you who suggested it, last time we met. Thanks for the pointers for reading material.

Ugh

LJ tells me I need a message here, but anything after the title would be a little superfluous.
