Okay.  So as you may know, my cable set top box stopped responding to the remote.

I thought I'd play around with the new one they sent.  It seemed to work.  Then stopped shortly after.  In fact, as soon as I tried to do anything with it.  In fact throughout the day it seemed fairly intermittent.

Then I noticed something.  It seemed to only work when the telly was off.  Covering the remote sensor actually solved this problem (and not actually a major problem since I use TiVo for most of the functionality) but this is still strange since the spare box that the previous tenants left behind doesn't have this problem.  It just doesn't pick up all the channels, and the modem doesn't seem to work.

Even weirder, disconnecting the network cable from the back of the cable box solved the problem.

So, I moved the router a little to the left, the Wii a little to the right, and things seem to work okay now.

I'm just at a loss to explain why the network cable could result in the TV interfering with the remote control.
