Yesterday was Ada Lovelace day to celebrate the achievements of Women in Science and technology.

Cool and all, but Ada Lovelace was not a good poster child.  She did write some notes on how an algorithm might work on an analytical engine, but these were originally Babbage's.  Serious biographers have al agreed that her contributions were highly overrated.

Now, a real female contributor to Computer Development was Rear Admiral "Amazing Grace" Hopper.  Credited with discovering the first computer bug (May be apocryphal), literally wrote the book on the Harvard Mark 1, responsible for the first compiler, pioneered standards testing, and is one of the two three  women to have served in the US Navy to have a ship named after her.
