I read an article about experiences rather than possessions making people happy.

It has reminded me once again, I have way too much stuff taking up space.  I'm way too much of a hoarder.  I have loads of stuff kicking about that I'm never going to use.  I should try and get rid of it.

I have a habit of hanging on to old magazines.  Should I throw them out, or give them away?  Since I have magazines I've not even looked at for 5 years or more, hanging onto them seems somewhat pointless.

I have a huge collection of defunct electronics and silly toys.  I really don't have any need for a hand scanner any more.  Lots of other bits and pieces are just taking up space.  Do I have the heart to throw out Edgar?  My first PC.  Upgraded about as far as you can upgrade an AT machine, and somewhat useless for all possible purposes.  Doesn't even have the juice to be a DVD player. There seems to be an emotional attachment there.

Other things are a little more tricky.  I have a huge collection of books.  I rarely reread them either.  I can afford to buy books more quickly than I can read them.  Should I try and shed some of them?

DVDs I'm less sure about.  There are many of them that I will watch again, and many that I have watched several times.  I'll hang onto them for now, but resist buying new ones.  Perhaps I'll be able to categorise some as not worth hanging onto at some point.

VHS videos are a problem.   They take up space.  I would probably watch a few of them if they were more visible but there's nowhere to keep them because they take up so much space!  I should get rid of most of them but have no idea what to do with them.  Perhaps I should get a video capture card and archive them.

Clothes - too many of them but I like them.  Costume bits keep getting recycled and reused.  They can stay.

So I think my plan is to take some of the lesser used books to a charity shop and throw out the less interesting video tapes, and electronic crap.  Anyone want a huge Pile of old SFX Magazines.  Generally in adequate condition starting Issue 1 to uhm.. a lot more than 1.  Whatever they got up to a couple of years ago when I stopped buying them.
