I spend a lot of my life in Bristol. I think I know the M4 better than anyone else alive. I really need to find a job in Bristol abd move back. Any suggestions as to how I achieve getting a job there will be appreciated. But anyway - it was [livejournal.com profile] amadou_a's housewarming party. Except that started at 9:00 and I don't like driving out of London after 11:00. So I thought I'd stop by my Brother in Swindon for a cuppa. And a chat. And a pub lunch. And dinner.

My brother had recently found some of his old records. One of them was "Greatest Science Fiction Hits" by Neil Norman and his cosmic orchestra. I remember that from a long time ago. What is interesting is the track "War of the satellites". The only film covered that I've never heard of. It's actually a pretty cool tune. Makes me want to see the film. If it's good enough for Neil Norman, then it's good enough for me.

Went to the party. Perhaps I should have mingled a bit more than I did but there were a nice crowd of people gathered on the floor, clearly attracted by [livejournal.com profile] ghostpaw's knitting. Anyway - had fun and didn't drink a lot. People there were easy to get to know. Amadou has a lovely bunch of friends. I feel kind of honoured to be one of them.

In the morning I watched Doctor Who and Dukes of Hazzard in the morning. I still like Paradise Towers. Dukes of Hazzard is a lot more tongue in cheek than I remember when it was first on, and the stunt driving is pretty good. It's amazing what we used to tolerate for effects. Back projection is so unconvincing. It's not just the bad matting, or the repeated use of the same footage. The driving motion has no correspondance to the movement of the background.

I was hoping to find someone to see Harry Potter with, but everyone was either out, had already seen it or had plans to go see it. Instead, I wnet to the house of goth, chatted with [livejournal.com profile] tyrshundr, provided wormth to [livejournal.com profile] the_smut_fairy's feet and had lunch at the Watershed.

Apparently I make a good foot warmer. I have skills that include ability to open jars, ability to reach high shelves, ability to be warm. Why does nobody want to employ me?

I thought I was the only Dr Who fan in the world who liked Paradise Towers.

I liked it too! That's three at least! ;) I even read the novelisation as a kid :)

Also hi to Neil who I now notice has called me at some point. D'oh, that's the second call I've missed this week due to headphones + mobile on silent. OTOH, you missed nothing, as I have spent an exciting day cleaning up in anticipation of BT engineer's visit. Joy :/

Well, I was just looking for someone to go see Harry Potter with.

See, I could have taken you away from your life of toil! Unless you've already seen it or aren't interested.

And I still haven't got any evidence that you're not a figment of my imagination. (Perhaps I shouldn't have watched A Beautiful Mind)

Aww, though I'm seeing it with [livejournal.com profile] gair and co. later this week so we can still compare notes.

BTW, do you play on any MUDs?

Ah. Just started playing http://www.bat.org/ again, and doing my usual 'does nobody I know play this? Wah!' (actually there are players in Bristol and London on at the moment, but I've only met 'em once.)

*pimps the MUD to you on the offchance*

I would dearly love to see "Dr Who and the Dukes of Hazzard". But would it be Tom Baker or Jon Pertwee?
