[livejournal.com profile] the_smut_fairy was in town, so saw her and [livejournal.com profile] omylouse, and [livejournal.com profile] raygungothic.

Drank coffee. Ate cake. Went to Waterstones. Wandered round London. Looked around Waterstones. Was dragged into Topshop (I don't object to this as much as most guys. Am I less straight that I thought I was?). Found bar. Drank wine. Found restaurant. Ate Pizza. Drank more wine. Drank coffee. Haggled for more chocolate. Still owe Raygungothic for pizza. Forgot to drink lots of water. Surprisingly little in the way of hangover.

I am unable to comprehend this female obsession with beads.

Spoke of many things, largely involving Science Fiction.

Infodumps were mentioned (in the context of The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester). Made methink of these.

The art of the info dump . rft died a death so this is only available in the intternet archive:(

If all stories were written like sci-fi novels

"Am I less straight that I thought I was?"

Perhaps you are more confident in your gender identity than most. Or are less aware of societal pressures to conform to a masculine stereotype than the average male.

As for beads, I suggest one studies the behaviour of magpies.

interesting..

Re:shopping, you didn't seem to get on well with "girly" shopping type stuff a while back.
Unless that has helped warp your sense of reality sufficiently to now be able to handle it!

I get a bit bored with My Little Ponies, but that's totally different:P

'twas on the day we saw the Pratchett play in Abingdon and there was some wandering round in Woking done during the afternoon (though I think you might have been feeling a bit unwell at the time, or recovering after feeling unwell the day before).

Re: bored with ponies? And you being the person who keeps asking me for the link to the page of "Justice League" ponies? ;)

Ah right. I was a bit unwell. Although girls toys are dull, I can always go tot he lego or transformers section. Didn't have a huge objection to the cosmetics shop.

Anyway, custom ponies are inherently cool. And these are Justice League ones.

Haha! I like the sci-fi one. That's why I don't read most sci-fi. It usually has more interest in machines than people, and it rarely has plausible dialogue.

Why oh why did they go back to the original title "the stars my destination" the alternative one of "tiger Tiger" was snappier more descriptive and just generally better. This is one of my favourite books by the way, I keep thinking they should translate it into a film. unfortunately who ever it is that owns the rights is apparently sitting on them.
