..from atop the London Eye.

It's my dad's birthday today. to celebrate, he came down to London, and we went on the London Eye. It's good it is. The seemingly endless queue only lasts for about 15 minutes, and then you get on. Interestingly, they don't stop it to let people get on unless they have to. The capsules go past, and you just step on as they pass, a bit like an escalator. There are four or so sets of barriers that open in sequence to stagger the order that people get on.

15 minutes later we were at the top. Took lots of photos. I really must get into the habit of taking pictures of people though. Lots of nice shots of London. My dad was quite impressed, which was the whole point. It's not a view of london that you get very often. Can see for miles

Afterwards, we went for lunch at the People's Palace in the Royal Festival Hall. The main hall seemed to have a band playing jazzy versions of pop songs. Food was good. Pate with Indian Pickle, followed by Salmon, followed by banana toffee pudding.

Finally we strolled past the river to the wobbly bridge. Alas, the bridge no longer wobbles. It's unfortunate for the company that built it (Arup) They had a wonderful reputation, including iconic structures such as the Sydney Opera house, The National Stadium - Birmingham, but everyone remembers them for "the wobbly bridge".

Anyway, parents had to return home, but I don't live there anymore, so I presented my present of 2 very nice crystal class goblets, and said my goodbyes.

There's a car outside making lots of revving noise. Lift the clutch! It works better that way.

Flatmate still causing stress. He wants me to switch the phone bill to my name. I would have no problem doing this normally, but I get the feeling that this is simply to avoid my other flatmate. I am not getting in the middle of this!

Where can I buy a klein bottle? I feel I need something suitably geeky to add to my collection of stuff.

For those who aren't aware, a Klein bottle is a topological curiosity. Hard to describe. You have to see one in real 3D space to quite understand what they are. The basis is that there is no actual inside or outside, since following the inner surface around leads to the outer surface. Same class of items as a moebius strip.

Here's a really amazing one
