Today, I was told I'm not geeky enough.
Yesterday, I applied for roughly 30 different jobs. A couple of them resulted in agents caling me. One of them actually wanted to meet with me, which was unusual. So, we met, and he interviewed me.
Anyway, we talked. I've discovered that I'm really not too good at the type of interview that asks me to sell myself. He felt that I had a lot of contradictions, and also pointed out that I focussed on the interpersonal stuff, and didn't say that I really enjoy programming. In fact, part of my comments would suggest that I didn't. So, I guess that I have a big flaw in my interview technique. My problem being that I'm actually going overboard with downplaying my geek side.
Sometimes, I could do with more people being so direct and honest. I learn a hell of a lot more than wwhen people try to avoifd hurting my feelings.
