Well, that went depressingly well
Apr. 12th, 2011 09:19 amSo, I had an interview with Jaguar/Land Rover. Drive up there was shockingly fast. Only slowdown was for the usual roadworks. Weren't even a lot of those.
Interview went well apart from a shaky start. It's an HMI job (touchscreen interface for a car's satnav/media display). I'm sure they're comfortable with the idea that I know my graphics stuff if nothing else. For some reason one of the guys asked me about the 3D graphics pipeline. Since my first job was 3D graphics hardware I know that one.
So here's the problem - I'd be sent to Coventry. Once again a place where I know nobody (actually
emmzi may be close and she's fabulous. Not sure though). And it sounds like it would be quite a long contract. And the pay doesn't sound exactly huge. So I don't want the job that much. On the other hand I've been on the bench for a couple of months now so I'm not in a position to turn this sort of thing down.
Meanwhile there was vague mention of a contract in Brighton for pretty good pay. It's games again which I'd rather avoid but the ability to walk to work and spend essentially nothing on expenses (unless I felt the urge to buy lunch in one of Brighton's fine selection of cafés)
The job I'd realy like is this one: C/C++ OpenGL developer in Sydney. 6 month contract (wrong 6 months since it's winter there but still...). It would be fun to go back to Australia. I have absolutely no idea how to go about actually doing that though. I wouldn't even know where to start.
