So, I had an interview with Jaguar/Land Rover.  Drive up there was shockingly fast.  Only slowdown was for the usual roadworks.  Weren't even a lot of those.

Interview went well apart from a shaky start.  It's an HMI job (touchscreen interface for a car's satnav/media display).  I'm sure they're comfortable with the idea that I know my graphics stuff if nothing else.  For some reason one of the guys asked me about the 3D graphics pipeline.  Since my first job was 3D graphics hardware I know that one.

So here's the problem - I'd be sent to Coventry.  Once again a place where I know nobody (actually [livejournal.com profile] emmzi may be close and she's fabulous.  Not sure though).  And it sounds like it would be quite a long contract.  And the pay doesn't sound exactly huge.  So I don't want the job that much.  On the other hand I've been on the bench for a couple of months now so I'm not in a position to turn this sort of thing down.

Meanwhile there was vague mention of a contract in Brighton for pretty good pay.  It's games again which I'd rather avoid but the ability to walk to work and spend essentially nothing on expenses (unless I felt the urge to buy lunch in one of Brighton's fine selection of cafés)

The job I'd realy like is this one: C/C++ OpenGL developer in Sydney.  6 month contract (wrong 6 months since it's winter there but still...).  It would be fun to go back to Australia.  I have absolutely no idea how to go about actually doing that though.  I wouldn't even know where to start.

*Hugs* I know a couple of geeky types in Coventry and would be happy to introduce ;-) but if there are no compelling reasons to take the job, I can't say I recommend Cov as a place to live; I found it a bit grim.

It's always good to interview well. Go you! Even if you don't want to take it. Though at least it's a contract not permanent...

I assume for the Sydney job, you would start by applying? If they offer you the job, I am sure there will be people on your FL who can advise you about how to go about visas etc.

There's a whole host of larper types up in Coventry, that we could introduce you to.

But we'd prefer you to stay in Brighton ;)

"I wouldn't even know where to start."

OK, I was going to say something mildly sarky about trying the "Apply now!" button at the bottom of the ad, but then found out this just makes it tell you that they've stopped accepting applications. Hmm. Email your CV to the recruitment agency, like I assume you do for your UK jobs?
