Trip to London because [personal profile] flickums wanted to go away around her birthday.

Was hoping to get audience tickets for QI. Alas they didn't happen. Instead we went on a Jack The Ripper waking tour. Whitechapel was a short hop away by Tube. The area is now very gentrified, because this is London.

Anyway, had time for a nice dinner and then joined the tour.

Seems lime the guide had a decent understanding of the history. While the ripper victims were described as "unfortunates", and that was often a euphemism for "prostitutes", the chances are, they probably weren't.

So, we went on a stroll around London. The events happened over 130 years ago so most of the locations have been redeveloped. Entire streets have since disappeared, although a few of the names were the same or similar. We were given the grisly details of the murders and the actually rather tragic details of who the victims were. Tour guide showed us photos for illustration showing what the area used to look like. He seemed to know his stuff.

Several other tours in the area. I presume they were largely the same. Some dressed up. Some had projectors. We didn't get into a massive rumble with any of the other groups. Was surprised how many people there were. About 20 in our group and another couple of groups of similar size.

Feet now feeling very sore.
