Gallons of water drunk: 174.
Maybe not, but it's damn hot.
hopefully this cut will work. Not 100% sure with a PDA.
To someone used to living in London Tokyo is quite affordable. One day Subway pass costs about £3.50 and entitles me to all the sandwiches I can eat. No. Wrong type of Subway. All day travel.
Tokyo is just half an hour by local train so I decided to start there. Followed the suggestions from the pocket travel guide and started in Shinjuku.
Random thought: Why does a Japanese book shop say BOOKS? Its obvious that its a bookshop from all the books but unless you can read japanese in the first place, the information is useless(I may have missed something obvious of course)
Visited one of the parks in Shinjuku. Then hunted for the sword museum. Sort of interesting but it is rather small and takes a while to get to. Its miles from anywhere and really hard to find. Nice swords though and an interesting display of how theyre made.
More bumbling around Tokyo led me to the Science & Nature Museum. Space & Technological develoment section was geekily delightful. Also saw some demonstrations of modern science & tech & gadgetry. A voice recognition lounge even understood my Japanese.
So, Next up was Tokyo tower. Tokyo's Eiffel Tower clone. Wasn't there early enough to see sunset but it was probably too murky anyway.
Eating was tricky. Guidebok recommended a nearby place but either I couldn't find it or it was the closed looking place. Tried another place but they had a party booked. Tried a department store near the station. Very few had translations or pictures. One or two even had Japanese numerals for prices. I'm not really adventurous enough for that. German restaurant looked interesting but there was a queue. Decided to try the station food court. found a nice Sushi bar. Result! I think I prefer Moshi Moshi in Brighton but since that's an expensive restaurant and this was fast food, it compared well.
