So, I got a letter about housing benefit. It requests information about my other account. Perhaps they could have been a little quicker about this, but this isn't my real complaint. I mean i could be lieing about having 2p in that account. I might actually have stashed several million pounds in it.

They want to know about my "ellow tenants". Not quyite sure what an ellow is. I looked it up in your dictionary, and couldn't find an entry. They also asked me to supply any 2 items from the attached list. Perhaps they could have attached a list. And they got the account number of my existing account wrong.

I did call to complain. I was unable to talk to the person who wrote the letter. I was told by the person who answered that she would have to help. She seemed to be a bit upset when I complained to her about the ineptness of the council. Well, she did offer.

I'm now feeling kind off agitated because this means there's still a job to do, but I can't without the paperwork which I have to get from the bank. This means there's an unsolveable problem to deal with.

Polite insistence and persistence often get these things working. Ring them up and get them to issue a new letter without the typos and with the relevant list if you haven't already. And get an address or number for their complaints department or person - they're the ones who are meant to deal with complaints rather than whoever is in the office at the time.

But shouting at local authority workers/insurance companies/supermarket staff can feel good at the time, can't it, and is often necessary, even if to no actual avail at all.

I used to work in a local council and regularly slag off the way things were done. (Maybe that's why I'm not working there any more)

It can feel good.

I do feel a little guilt about it though. It's not really their fault. I want to be able to complain to the idiot who is responsible for the problem.

Arggh paperwork - I got a letter from the tax office, asking about my salary. It's taunting me from my desk. I can't bear it!
