A LARPing we will go...

Grotty weather, grotty traffic getting there and I was feeling grotty anyway.  Not a good start.  Actually ended up watching more than taking part because I was feeling a bit too grotty to be all that proactive.

Also realised I clicked the wrong box on the character creation.  Not that that matters quite so much.  And I forgot my sword.  I wasn't planning on getting into fights but still would have been nice to have had the option.

There was lots of mud.

Jig managed to kill himself quite impressively in front of many witnesses.  Much Angst followed.

Apparently there were kittens.

Chatted to a couple of wemics in the pub.  Ambled around looking around.  Was amused by the two armies constanbtly preparing to fight, one quite willing and able to defend and the other not quite so willing.

It was entertaining enough, but didn't have as good a time as I feel I should have.  Will have to work on that one.  Pondering what to do for next one.  Could create a new character now that I have some concept of what's what or see where I can go with this one.  Still a bit bemused by this whole roleplaying malarky.

I had a lot of trouble with my first maelstrom event too, it's rather different to other larps I have done. However, this event was more fun for me, still some problems but they can be worked on, so good luck for you too.

Blah, sentence structure sucks, for which I am sorry :s

Well, a lot of it was down to the weather and illness.

Perhaps I should have tagged along with the Utopians instead.

If you want politicking and plot, try the Utopians. It sticks to them. But from what I hear, the Wayward Scholars are pretty sticky as well. :)

You missed the kittens?!

You know, if you didn't have much fun with Kekoa this event, you could always draw up a Utopian character for the next one, it doesn't look like you got drawn into much Plot. Or Kekoa could wander off and play with other people (Havocstan?), and stay loosely affiliated with the Scholars.

Well, I wanted to act out of character and generally be cocky, and possibly a bit annoying which is why I chose to play a generally quite aggressive character. Found myself unable to get into the character.

I mean I should have been randomly going up to people and being tactless at them or joining games of cards in the bar or finding people to get drunk with, and have lots of fun, or just exchange jokes and gossip. I don't care about plot so much because I like the social aspect of LARPing. I just wasn't feeling in a remotely social mood.

Not really anything anyone could do about that. But I've seen it now. Will work out whether I'm going to play the same character next time and how I'm going to play whatever character I do.

Well, if you want to spend the weekend socialising and getting pissed and cracking dirty jokes, Novak's Carnival is the place to be. Also, one of our alchemists makes the best vanilla vodka in the world. :D
