So, the story so far.

Kylie's a computer security expert who had a few brushes with the law in the past on account of her relaxed attitude to other peoples computers (still not 100% sure what she did).

Dunc's a free runner, and one time accomplice of Kylie.

Jenni's a naive American politics student who seems to have found herself in the position of a super spy.

The President assassinated her predecessor and proof, or at least fairly compelling evidence of this, was recorded in a high-tech prosthetic eye. This prosthetic eye ended up in the possession of Jenni. She had to get it to some guy in Bristol. Jenni was on the terror watch list so agreed to smuggle drugs in exchange for a fake passport and transit to England. She was meant to have met up with her contacts, but they've all been killed, and as a result of various things ended up with Dunc and Kylie. She's also wanted in connection with the murder. And the drug dealers have caught up with her and want their money back.

Kylie's been interviewed and generally bullied by the police, They've found a safe house, won heaps of money through cheating at blackjack, and that's about a third of the novel.

So I need to work out what the big crime on the past was, what else is involved in the big conspiracy, why they haven't just gone to the papers with the evidence, and what they're going to do next. I think I need some additional complications. Maybe I should just get the nanofictionary cards out.

And this still doesn't seem as cyberpunk as I want it to be. What makes a novel cyberpunk? Crime and tech alone don't seem to cut it.

As such I'm soliciting suggestions. I may well ignore them. Although I would like to include the concepts I missed out on last year. Jam, a potato farm, an agrarian uprising (possibly about potatoes), chamistry (sic) and vehcle chases (sic)

Well there's the Dares thread over at the forums http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/3031688

As for what cyberpunk is my guess would be it's individuals or maybe a small group of them who use tech, often advanced of our own, to fight off having to being governed or controlled by large institutions or corporations.

Perhaps it was information regarding how potatoes are being GM-d with special genes that when activated with a chemical trigger kill their host. Given how popular chips are that means everyone has this dormant bio-bomb in them just waiting for the chemical to detonate. Or perhpas she stole the president's chips from his dinner and he's just mad at her for that and is abusing his power.
