Massacres, Masquerades

I still need to get character concept sorted out. Haven't quite been in the frame of mind to work it out recently.
Primarily this is thinking out loud, but always nice to bounce ideas off people. May be FOIPy for anyone who's actually playing.
Character 1: Lieutenant in the Dragon Corps.
High flyer, extremely bad manners (unsophisticated slob rather than rude in an upper-class way). Social climber in many respects. Not quite in the upper classes. Irritated at not being a captain, but refuses to be captain of a middling middleweight dragon. Decorated for bravery and has enough social contacts and is sufficiently well respected to get invitations to society balls.
Would be kinda fun to play. An uncooth lout being rude to the upper class ladies.
Uniform would be tricky. Actually it doesn't look all that hard, but people who presumably know better than me suggest making it would be quite ambitious. Don't really want to spend heaps of money on a custom made green army jacket.
Character 2: Retired highwayman
Well, the highwayman thing is more of a widely held rumour. It is quite clear that hold-ups on the Bath Road seemed to end at about the time he became more of a prominent figure. Quite portly and elderly.
Means I'd be acting out of character, which is good. Has scope for lots of backstory and involvement in politics, which is also good. Bunni apparently wants a host (unless that's sorted) so could pitch for that. Staying in character all weekend could be tough.
Character 3: Indian Prince.
Son of a prince. Also (possibly disinherited) grandson of a major East India stakeholder through a marriage of convenience. Most of the character background would be through parentage. Eton/Oxford educated, so very British in mannerism. Really quite bitter about the whole Subsidiary Alliance thing the East India company has going on.
The concept should fit into the setting pretty well. Can run off some pretty convincing clothing myself. Character has goals and purpose. Don't know if I can pass my pasty white self off as an Indian (even half Indian).

Retired Highwayman sounds the type to be quietly involved in many more power games than anyone suspects, and to run things largely from behind the scenes, if that's what you want. And you're right, he'd make a good host for this sort of thing.
Just pointing out the obvious here, and bouncing ideas back. :)
