What shall I "read" next?
Aug. 21st, 2009 11:10 amI signed up to audible last month. Bought Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.
The way it works is you pay a subscription and get one book a month. You can buy books individually but it's usually much much more expensive that way.
I'm now on month 2. I get another book. Choosing is hard. Not fond of epic fantasy. Quite fond of science fiction but that's not mandatory. I find it hard concentrating on too many characters in audiobook, so would prefer something not in third person omniscient.
So I'll solicit recommendations.
Anyone read anything good recently?
edit: Damn! No William Gibson.
edit2: linky

Date: 2009-08-21 11:15 am (UTC)While your recommendations are perfect for my tastes, they're a little too perfect, being either the ones I've listened to, or (in the case of Pratchett) ones I know far too well.
I agree. LOTR and Hitchhikers are both fantastic. I think I have the Guards guards radio play kicking about here as well.

Date: 2009-08-21 11:21 am (UTC)I also enjoyed
- the mighty boosh radio series
- the brightonomicon
- the screwtape letters
- Trollogy (kids book but *ace*)
- earthsearch
if I have spare credits I get 'the best of science fiction and fantasy magazine' , which is a handful of short sotries and I'm bound to like some of them
