Nano - day 1

Well, there's a good start.  I'm ever so slightly ahead of myself right now.  1750 words. 

Story seems a lot darker than I was originally intending.  Rather than a fun little action adventure set a dystopia, where things can only improve, I seem to be starting my characters as comfortable city types people and dumping an invasion in them, and seem to be developing themes of racism, internal displacement and attempted rape.
