So, more detail:
Last weekend Really dull because everyone was out and I was lonely. I need a local drinking buddy.
Monday I planned to see Donnie Darko, but missed it because I cocked up with times. Ooops. Checked the times just as I set out, and realised it had already started.
Tuesday Yeah, so this Scratch thing; Battersea Arts centre is about developing productions rather than showing them, so a lot of their productions are half finished, and cheap to watch. I had a free ticket to see one of these, so I thought I'd go a long. It was an enjoyable 2 man show. Virtually no dialogue, about 2 boys who meet at school, and grow up and go their separate ways. All quite sweet and feelgood.
Wednesday Played Mississippi Queen. And I won, Hah! :) It's a fun little game that, driving little paddle steamers down the mighty Misssissippi. And then crashing into aan island that you didn't see coming.
Thursday Donnie Darko was an interesting film. Would have been nice if there was a little more emphasis on the book excerpts though. Knowing what the book says makes the story a lot easier to work out.
Friday A work "Fun day". This was nice. I tend not to chat to people at work too much. I don't get on that well with other geeks until I find some common ground which often takes a long time, especially at work where most people talk about football. But they had 5 a side footy (didn't join in for that, but it was fun to watch), and tug of war (I volunteered, but we had a full team). They also had some free booze (Including Youngs bitter). Now, that's my kind of sport! And some food. Bacon bap was perfectly okay. "Curry" wasn't. The hotness was supplied by chillis rather than spices. Not very good at all.
Because I had such a good time at Electrowerkz a couple of weeks ago, I thought I'd head down there again, but it was all mainstream this week. So, I thought I'd hunt for some sort of goth night. Camden sounded like a good bet, but not quite alternative enough for my liking. I went to the electric ballroom, drank more, and flirted with anyone who looked female, cute and lonely. I just wish I could do that without alcohol. Still, I seem to be at least a little sexy, which is a nice ego boost. But where do all the goths and punks and wotnot go on a Friday night in London?
Saturday This was my flatmate's long delayed Star Wars day. All three original Star Wars films in a row. I still like the first one (A New Hope) best. I just like it. We have an exciting escpae attempt, swinging across chasms (A must for any decent action flick), dogfighting, romance, and a nobody farmboy as the hero. It was fun watching the films again. If only George Lucas could leave them alone. There are a lot of improvements in the special editions, like removing the airbrush splodge under the landspeeder, and making the snowspeeders non-transparent, but all the extra stuff going on at mos eisley is a distraction. What you leave out is as important as what you put in. Still we have 5.1 surround, a good screen, and The Star Wars trilogy! The extras include the original trailers. So, I watched them and had to wonder... Did they actually show these at cinemas!? Did they think people would want to watch!? The Empire Strikes back ones are terrible. The Star Wars ones are okay, but the very early trailer was made before there was any music. It seem extremely flat.
Also had a mischevous curry. Or at least assisted my flatmate in doing so. Since he's been married, he's been banned from eating curry and drinking lots of wine. Since his wife is away in New york for the week, sorting out her visa, he was given permission for one, but he used that one up. I took pity on him, and offered to join him for another curry. It will be his last chance for some time. This did require a lot of hiding of the evidence, of course. We had to make sure all the dishes were cleaned, the rubish was disposed of, there were no curry marks, and the wine was replaced.
So, we ordered, and scarily, just as the curry was delivered, the phone rang, and it was his wife!
We had enough time for one more Star Wars film. I couldn't decide betweeen 1 and 2, so I was told to go with my gut instinct. I went for Star Trek 2. The Wrath of KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!
Today Caught up with some DVD watching. Went shopping. Trying to find some stuff for fancy dress costumes. Themes are:
Best Suggestions so far are a Psicop, and an Imperial officer. Thought I'd have a look in the Camden markets to see if I could find a suitable jacket for Bester. I think I need some sort of collarless jacket. Maybe there's something else more suitable. It's a little har to see exactly what he's wearing since Bester wears black and it's hard to make out details.. I can't really sew, so anything I do get needs to be fairly easy to modify. What I did find were some German army shirts dyed purple. Now, they were cool, and I just had to buy one. So, I a few on, and all of them were too small! Grrr! Not fair.! I want a purple army shirt. Couldn't find anything suitable for basing an Imperial officer on either. I think I'll just go as a Jedi. It's a little obvious, but I do have many lightsabers to help justify this.
Anyone want to give me sewing lessons?
