So, what's my motivation here, luvvie?
Nov. 17th, 2004 08:55 pmSo, a couple of weeks ago, I signed up to a 3 week acting workshop. Last week it was all about use of texts. This weeks workshop was all about emotion.
All a lot of fun. Lots of exercises. Started off walking around the room, and saying "hello" to people. Then doing the same, but in a sad way. A strong way. A shy way. An imposing way. Well, I can do shy quite well. The rest requires that I actually think about what I'm doing.
Other exercises involved splitting into pairs, looking at each others eyes, and trying to be happy, sad, and cocky. It's surprisingly hard to think of happy and sad thoughts when you have someone staring into your eyes. Cocky I can do. I know what I'm good at.
Had a bit of a problem with walking up to someone, and telling them to get out of the way in as angry a way as possible. This is not all that easy for a nice guy like me. This has worked quite well for me generally, but I don't really get angry. It takes a lot of work to get myself into an agitated mood. I decided to concentrate on a letting agent I once had an argument with. It seemed to work.
So, I guess I'll not be winning an oscar yet. I can see what I need to work on though, and it was definitely fun to do.
Improvisation next week.
After that, I'll have to consider what to do. Whether to look for some amdram groups, or try something else entirely.
