By the way,
penguin_worship often needs volunteers for this. If anyone is free on occasional Wednesdays, has experience with role play and is able to get to Wellingborough and back for less than £20 per person, then let me of PW know... It's good fun and you get paid 20 quid for your efforts on top of travel costs.
erestania wasn't there this time, so I was nominally running things. Which means things get run in my nervous panicky control freaky way. Did want to do things a little differently. I've always felt we were a little too willing to volunteer information, and tried to do stuff too quickly. Also a bit too easy going. So I sent
bigbadg to talk to them because he likes being cantankerous. If we're going to make things hard for them then let's do that at the start.
Group one went a bit haywire. They did the annoying thing of wanting to send some people to the water point immediately. Which is fine but means we have less time to deal with their needs assessment. Then changed their minds. That confused our sniper. Seems our dead body and injury swapped around.
Thing about doing this with LARPers is we use our own jargon. As far as they're concerned, we're "actors" and the trainees are "participants". Generally we consider ourselves to be NPCs and them to be PCs. We've also referred to them as "The Adventuring Party", and "Players".
Was fun chatting to the participants afterwards. Mentioned that we do this sort of thing as a hobby. I don;t think they quite got the idea of LARP though. Small world syndrome happened. The sister of one of the participant's was a close friend of
spawnofweevil's aunt. One of the participants mentioned that usually the men are much more concerned about talking about themselves and women tend to be more in tune with the needs of the camp which I'll have to mention.
