Conventions

I'm rather disappointed that I'm not going to Renovation. I had an awesome plan which involved also going to San Francisco. Sadly I can't afford it. Took too long getting another contract. I can afford it now - just - but I really don't think it's really good form to take 2 weeks off this close to the start of a contract. I missed Eastercon as well, for much the same reason. I really was expecting to have found something by then.
So now I'm feeling convention withdrawal. The last one I went to was Redemption. That was months ago! I really ought to go to one.
So, we have coming up (that I know of):
Irish Discworld Con - This is going to be highly influenced by the British DW conventions, and they're always great fun! I missed the last one because I wanted to go to Worldcon instead. I really wish they hadn't decided to hold it where they did. Getting there doesn't look easy since it's miles from anywhere. Also will be flying so have limited capacity to carry stuff. Also also - that makes it pricey.
Vampire Ball (and seriously Sean isn't it about time you got proper URL hosting rather than a redirect?) - Good guests. Not as into these as I was but I tend to enjoy the parties and fancy dress aspects, and did meet some fun people at the last one.
FantasyCon - Mainly because it's in Brighton. Really the website seems to have made a decided effort not to make it sound like it will be much fun.
Wondering if there are any others.
Don't want to spend too much on these this year. Am trying to save up for a house! But still, it would be nice to do at least one of them.
One of these days I want to go to one of the big American conventions.
