That Nano icon is getting a little bit old and crusty.  I could really do with a new one.  Someone did kindly make a "loser" one for us last year, but I don't think I have a copy.

Wondering whether I should try to do it this year.  I'm completely without ideas, apart from a bit of fanfic - a rewrite of Star Wars episode 1, 2, and 3.  I want to avoid that sort of thing.

I just don't have any stories bouncing around itching to be told.  And I do want to finish off a couple of other stories I've been writing, but since I have a this resource of the nano community I feel obliged to make use of it.

Feel free to submit ideas.  Random, useful, and stupid are all appreciated.  I think I'll disappear and scribble random thoughts down in a notebook.

In 2063, CERN scientist Nikola Tesla accidentally invents time travel, then spends the rest of his life trying to get back 'home'...

I may have also mentioned this plot, born of a conversation about why Tesla hasn't been used as a character on Dr Who yet, to [livejournal.com profile] ariskari, so whoever wants it.

Hah, funnily enough I was going to post this to share the brilliant idea. I guess I'll have to try and think of something else instead.

A retelling of the Arthurian legend where Arthur was the one to have an affair with Lancelot!

Regency Brighton Steampunk: When young, idealistic aspiring politician Henry Fitzgerald meets Miss Leah O'Neill, shipping heiress and fiancé of the eccentric* Baron Strathdon, at a Brighton salon, he is captivated by her wit, intelligence and refusal to bow to 'proper' behaviour, and begins a correspondence with her. Finding himself falling in love with her despite himself, his care for the girl he is courting, her fiancé and the ten year age difference, he decides to quite with her. Fate is not on his side, though, and through the twists and turns of intrigue and conspiracy around the court of Prince George, the two are plunged into a race to prevent the sinister Bishop of Chichester installing a Theocracy that would take Britain back to the Dark Ages.

Possible options on Lovecraftian weirdness, with O'Neill and Strathdon being monster-hunters in their spare time.

*for 'eccentric', read 'nutty inventor'.

Intriguing idea. I like the idea of a regency Brighton setting especially.
