Decided to go to the field museum and the Acquarium.  The Field museum turns out to be very very big, so I just did that.

The Field museum's prime exhibit is "Sue" the most complete T-Rex skeleton ever discovered.  Posed in a very aggressive position.  Very charming.

Other highlights are the American History section, and the extinction events section.  They have a reconstruction of a native American family home.  The American history area is partcularly interesting.  The various native cicilisations are illustrated by little vignettes describing life in the culture.  Special exhinits were the 3D movie (Dolby system.  Was most impressed) the "underground aventure", where you get shrunk to a couple of inches, and see giant sized bugs and things, and "extreme mammals" which talks about extremem mammals.

Followed up with a trip into the outskirts to see some live comedy, as recommended by someone I met at a sci-fi meetup.  Improv and the ComedySportz Bar.  A lot of fun.  Afterwards I got the distinct impression that most of the people ther knew the guys performing.  They were all pretty good though.

Cool! I didn't realise that Sue was real, thought she was just invented by Jim Butcher for purposes of 'Dead beat'.
