Vampire Ball 3

So.. Back to England again for another convention. Starfury Vampire Ball 3.
I was actually starting to feel that perhaps I'd grown out of the media con a little. The parties irritate me. I'm not that keen on autographs. The obsessiveness of some fans tends to annoy me. But James Marsters' and Juliet Landau's talk won me over again. I was brave enough to ask a question about accents and coaching. Was answered in a Ukrainian accent.
James Marsters is charming, witty, and a lot of fun. He seemed to avoid doing things that he wasn't obligated to (which is fair enough because he's not) but usually the guests do go out and meet the fans a bit, and will see the fancy dress. However, he did shake everyone's hand at the autograph signing.
Was also impressed by Ksenia Solo who donated the proceeds of her autographs to an anti-bullying campaign. She was also very nice to everyone.
Starfury Regular Neil Roberts was there, and pushing his son's book. His son did a volunteer thing in Borneo. He had to raise the funds himself. So he decided to make a celebrity recipe book. Some big names there - James Earl Jones, Judi Dench, and Arnold Schwartzenegger included.
Arrived late so didn't really do much the first night. All my costume stuff is in storage so didn't do a lot of dressing up. Felt a wasitcoat was lestat-ish enough though. Sunday night I drew tally marks on my arms for an ultra-low-budget costume.
I seem to have spent a lot of time hanging out outside with the smokers. The problem is there isn't really a defined chill out area except the smokers zone. I appear to be an honorary smoker.
Assuming VB4 is the same time next year, I'll be in a bit of a dilemma. Would like to go but there's a firefly convention in mid-September.
