Travel - Things to do

I seem to have a busy couple of weekends coming up. This week I'm off to Paris with the lovely Hannah.

Paris

Things I need:
Toothbrush/toothpaste/razor/shaving cream
Tickets.
Maps.
Kindle.
Oodles of cash.
Change of clothes

Things to do in Paris:
See the Eiffel Tower. want to go up but don't want to spend too long queuing
Visit the Louvre. Actually it looks like I could easily spend a week there.
See Kid Canaveral.
Have a look at Arc De Triomph, Père-Lachaise cemetery, and Notre Dame Cathedral
Apparently there are puppet shows in the Jardin de Luxembourg
Seine boat trip might be nice. Does depend on available time.

Next week I'm off to Redemption!

Redemption 2013
Things I need:
Airline reservation info.
Passport (grrrrr)
Clothes. Including geeky t-shirts.
Outfit for party. Theme is Creatures of the Night. I have a lack of costume stuff in Belgium so only have a handful of options.
Werewolf cards and Fluxx
Probably forgotten loads of stuff.

If you've not been there before (heck, if you have been there before), go to the Musee d'Orsay. It houses works of the beginnings of Modern art (so, turn of the 20thC), so your Impressionists, Expressionists, Pre-Raphelites etc., and some gorgeous bits of Art Nouveaux and Art Deco design. The building is a decomissioned 1920s train station and a thing of beauty in itself. Pre-book it if you can, though. You might be ok so far out of peak tourist season, but the queues can get hella long on weekends.

Also, go to the Catacombs! They're wonderful.

Paris has an excellent underground [Metro] system. Good way of getting around!

The Louvre is HUGE and expensive. Recommend getting there early. Don't try to do everything.

Get to Arc de Triomphe by taking pedestrian underpass under the road. Trust me on this! Once you've seen the traffic, you'll understand!!!

If you have time, check the Sacre Coeur de Montmatre.
