I arrived at the bag drop. The lady checked I knew where the business class lounge was. This was unexpected since I had no idea I was in business class (the return flight actually cost less than my return flight this coming weekend). Turns out that as a result of indecisiveness, lack of organisation and it being the cheapest remaining available flight by the time I wanted to fly, the return flight was in Club Europe. That was rather a nice surprise.

Business class is a very different experience. Rather than the noisy bustling waiting area, and the overpriced restaurants, there's the executive lounge. the first thing I notices was how large it was. it's also designed to be a place to relax. It's quiet. To my surprise, nobody was nattering on their phone. Not many people seemed to even be doing business type stuff. The seats are comfortable.

I'd bought myself a sandwich before entering. This was a mistake. The executive lounge has a buffet area with hot and cold food to help oneself to.  I looked for a wi-fi password. Then realised I might was well use the complementary computers. There was free wi-fi if I wanted it.  Other freebies included newspapers, and drinks. Some decent wines, spirits to mix your own cocktails, soft drinks, and tea and coffee, and some really nice biscuits. I ate many biscuits.

If I'd wanted to I could have taken a shower.

The actual flight I just had a slightly wider seat a bit more leg room, and an in flight meal. This was only 45 minute flight to Amsterdam after all. I did get to board first, but I've never really seen why that matters.

When I got to the baggage carousel, my bag came first. It had an extra tag on it saying "priority baggage"

It really reinforces how much the economy class passengers are just baggage. The airlines just don't give a damn about them. Makes me wish I was super-rich. Will really have to pay attention to the cost of the upgrade next time I fly. Might be worth it.

it's all about the lounge

As sad as it is, Business Class is really the only way to travel. It's way more comfortable than economy and way better value than first. And if you're lucky enough to have work to pay for your flights, your 'membership status' means you get to travel economy but play in the lounges... Which is really the only valuable thing.

I'm glad you enjoyed it :-)

I've only flown Business Class once due to an epic deal my aunt managed to get...but oh my god it was amazing. I don't think the lounge we were in was quite that nice (only cold food, no computers I could see, and definitely no showers) but it was still amazingly good. It does make flying a hell of a lot more pleasant. Even if I do like having a bit of a potter around the shops while at an airport.

I've found Priority boarding helpful for my RyanAir flight to Ireland last year and it meant my Queuing at the Gate time dropped to 2 minutes and I got to pick a seat before the free-for-all scrum as it was free seating.
