Will I stay or will I go?

luckykaaToday I learned that one of my colleagues is not having his contract renewed. Not through any fault of his own. Simply that the company has decided to outsource to Poland, and when you're a contractor this is part of the job.
All fair enough. As a contractor, I assume this means my contract won't be extended either. I'll have been there for 3 months (currently about half way though). Not nearly enough time for me to have become essential. So while I was generally expecting that my contract would be renewed, I'm now expecting it won't, and will just leave a backup plan in case it does.
Wonder what I'll be doing next.
I do rather miss certain things about Britain.
Scandinavia is still tempting
And there's still a non trivial possibility that I will get an extension. No idea what I'll do if that happens.

Date: 2013-08-16 08:19 am (UTC)I'm an exceedingly indecisive person. I'm also instinctively risk averse. When I have taken a chance, more often than not I've enjoyed it. But this means I'm crippled by my instincts saying no and the logical part of my brain trying to ignore it. Too often this means I end up doing nothing.
So I whine about it on LJ. It helps because other people might suggest things, but mainly because it's useful to get my thoughts down. I'll create a "Neil's whining" filter if it annoys you.

Therefore if I knew that was my personality I'd change my situation. Because life is too short to be having these circular patterns which take up energy :)
