The lonely traveller
Oct. 20th, 2013 03:53 pmOne of the frustrating things about being single is that special offers always quote the price based on two people sharing.
I also need to fit these things around work. Work is a little unpredictable.
My other problem is that I haven't worked out what I enjoy doing. I have a list of things I've enjoyed - Penguin parade in Australia, visiting a local live music show in Melbourne (a lot of that was because of the people I was with), architecture boat tour in Chicago. What I really love is ancient buildings. I have a particular fascination for city walls, and have no idea why, but it did mean I really loved the ancient city of Jaffa, the fortifications at Luxembourg, and The Alhambra.
So I don't know where I want to go, when I can go, or who I want to go with or what I want to do when I'm there. I think this is related to my chronic indecisiveness. I gather I can be a difficult person at times.
In the meantime, does anyone who doesn't live in England want me to visit? I can sort out my own accommodation easily enough. Will just be calling on people for company and tour guiding.

Date: 2013-10-22 05:17 am (UTC)As for visiting places, I don't know what it is like now but I adored Phaistos in Crete - ancient roads and drains abound. Also the likes of Mycenae and Tiryns with their cyclopean walls are fascinating - in fact the whole of the Greek Peloponnese is fantastic.
