The year in the rear view mirror

luckykaaSo, it's that time of year again, where I look back over the year and see what went on.
Seems the first few months weren't all that great;
Started in a relationship. Lasted just over another month. Really wasn't going all that well anyway. Also started the year working in Belgium. That wasn't going too well either. I lacked contact with my sort of people. Although I did have a decent enough social life going on there. The main problem was the job. Things worked a lot better when I left and found another job. That's where things picked up.
Travelled a fair bit. Saw a lot of bits of Europe. Highlights were Luxembourg (good for a day, but not much more) and Tromsø - especially the Northern Lights.
Worked in another foreign country - The Netherlands. Realised I actually got on better with Belgium than Holland. Had trouble finding a social group at all, and never felt comfortable there. There was something about the lack of hills that really got me down. Did a lot of flying back and forth between Amsterdam and England. Enough that it was worth joining a frequent flyer programme.
Don't think there were any major firsts, except for visiting places. I do seem to have achieved my main goal for the year. I'm actually pretty happy at the moment. It's a nice feeling.
Friends got married. That was nice.
Other highlight seemed to have been the Nineworlds convention. Was sort of losing faith in the whole convention thing.
No plans as yet for next year. I've learned to take life as it comes a lot more over the last couple of years. I have hopes though. I want to get a job in Norway. I want to get back into the graphics side of things. I do sort of want to settle down again at some point but I have some itchy feet still.
It's been a good year. I have high hopes for 2014.
