This is the sixth Redemption convention I've been to! Still my favourite con! Hour by hour run down of what went down.
Friday:

10:40 - Board plane. Find myself stuck in the middle because I forgot to check-in online. Rookie mistake!
11:30 - Land at Heathrow
11:55 - Collect bag, find my way out of airport, and find I've missed the coach to coventry by minutes. Grab a toasted sandwich instead
12:55 - board coach. Learn that there's an accident closing part of the M40
16:49 - finally arrive at hotel. Much much later than expected.
17:00 - check in; dump stuff in hotel; hunt down friends
17:10 - See [livejournal.com profile] multiclassgeek. He directs me to the gopher hole, because it contains exactly one gopher - [livejournal.com profile] flickums! There may have been some smooching! Return to room to shower and relax and work out what I plan to do. Grab food. Bump into [livejournal.com profile] lemming_man and [livejournal.com profile] omylouse.
19:00 - First panel. "We are all borg now". My two very outspoken co-panelists took pity on me and allowed me to speak after a bit.
20:00 - Opening Ceremony. Yay! Convetion officially started
21:00 - Pub Quiz! Came a respectable third place. Not too shabby.
22:00 - Saw the "It's shit but I like it" panel. Lots of ranting about fun, stupid shows.
23:00 - Decided to reutn to bed at a senseble time

Saturday:
7:30 - go to breakfast. Surprised to see flickums and [livejournal.com profile] xenaclone are both already there. As an early riser I usually eat alone at conventions. Dress as Jack Harkness.
10:00 - How to run a convention panel. Learn some interesting stuff including the usefullness of a legal expert and [livejournal.com profile] watervole mentions the essentialness of a competent tech crew
11:00 - Did some gophering. I get a cool badge for my effort. Catch the end of the Eclectic 21 quiz. Quiz ends afer less than half an hour. Go back to the gopher hole. Didn't really feel i'd done the work to earn a groat so didn't accept it.
11:30ish - [livejournal.com profile] tlanti grabs me wanting me to explain how the music quiz works... She seems slightly anxious. I explain the format and think I calm her down.
12:00 - Grab food. Grab beer
14:00 - My next panel: Where now to boldly go. About where Star Trek should go next.
15:00 - "Do video game cause violence". Answer is "no".
17:00 - "TV:SF Where have all the spaceships gone?" - no real conclusion. Was fun though
18:00 - Almost press-ganged into Morris dancong workshop. Feel a little guilty saying no, but have essential drinking with friends to do!
19:00 - Head to grab food. Nando's, much to the annoyance of two of our group but it's fast and convenient and we want to get back for masquerade
20:10 - Miss start of masquerade. See most of it though.
22:00 - See flickums and [livejournal.com profile] masterofapath on panel on What books make good films. I still think Robocop was an excellent Dredd movie but the panel disagreed with me.
23:00 - Head to bar. Tlanti is there. Anxious about music quiz. I explain the format again. Try to worj out what the problems are. Assure her it will be fine. Return to room to chill out. Try to stay awake but drop off. Awake to a text from flickums asking whether I'm still awake.

Sunday:
Breakfast with flickums again. This time we've arranged to go in together. Discover that like me she doesn't like egg white. I explain how egg whites can be good as long as they're converted to their meringue form.
10:00 - listen through of music quiz. Good thing too! Somehow question 9 seems to have morphed from "The times they are a changing' (from Watchmen) to MST3K.
10:50 - Find the tech crew. They set up the sound system for the music quiz. I see watervole's point about the tech crew. Quiz went as per previous entry.
12:30 - lunch. Then I just need to go to the bar and chill out. Running that quiz was kind of intense.
15:00 - Video games - What could have been. Largely a rant about all the waeful games that should have been better.
16:00 - Closing ceremony.
17:00 - Omylouse's Panel on Fairy Tales, with me, flickums and allegedly Lesley, but she eneded up looking a lot more like Nova.
18:00 - Rush to Cosmo for the all you can eat buffet. I make sure I get my money's worth, including some teppanyaki (sirloin steak - Yum!).
19:00 - Rush back just in timeto make it for my next panel. "I want one of those - gadgets in SF"  Xenaclone is a co-panelist. My conclusion is that I want a rocket pack.
20:00 - Skyblaze's Disco/ Flickums birthday party combo! Lots of cool chiptune and anime music! I give Flickums her present. I wrapped it rather too well perhaps. She liked it. Other people gave her chocolate wine. She liked that as well. As one who doesn't usually drink, flickums is something of a lightweight. And chocolate wine is a full strength wine.
So that was the con that was. Would have liked to have done more gophering. Poor gopher bosses were very short staffed. Will try and schedule that in beforehand next time. Also realise there are a few things I missed. A time turner would be quite useful here. Also I need more time with all my other friends!

Ugh. Chocolate wine aka Flickumsbane.

Hope I wasn't too much of a chore and that my obsession with spiky hair didn't get too annoying too quickly.

Well...your hair is very spiky. And chocolate wine does tend to amplify my hair obsession ;)

There seem to be several references to me being nervous about the music quiz - actually I had never done a music quiz before... and having chatted to you, had a great time being part of it :)

I should have mentioned how awesome you were when it actually came to it. Couldn't have done it without you!

I could tell you were having fun when you started dancing :)
