I really am getting my money's worth from AA membership recently.

[personal profile] flickums  said "let's go for a picnic on the beach!", because she's awesome and knows I like eating and I like beaches. So we set off, got onto the M6 and the road seemed very shaky. After a few hundred metres I decided it probably wasn't the road, and was instead the car. Seems that the front tyre was shredded.

Really grateful for AA membership!

Waiting on a motorway is a miserable experience. It's noisy. There's nowhere to sit. There's nothing to do. Cars whizzing past at 70mph or more are frightening, and the trucks doing the same are terrifying.

Eventually a very nice man arrived, and swapped the tyre over. And we set off.

The smooth ride didn't last. The main road to Southport was closed for repairs. All traffic is filtered down to a single lane which is then stopped at a light that really doesn't give a lot of time fro cars to get through. I probably should have turned around and found somewhere else. There are other beaches nearby after all. Still, eventually we got there, just 3 hours later than we wanted. My mood improved as soon as we got to the beach. And even more so as soon as I ate some picnic. And more so as I finished a half bottle of Prosecco.

Got a new tyre the next day. they looked at the other tyres, and then needed to be replaced too (or maybe I'm just too trusting of mechanics), but it's a while you wait service. I had the chance to read a bit more of the book I'm reading.

On the plus side, Batsy now has a new set of shoes, and we should avoid a repeat of the blowout.
